Protect People, Not Profits. It's Time for Change.

Gun violence is a plague our country refuses to shake, fueled by a blatant lack of gun control laws and persistent failures by Congress to take meaningful preventative action. It's clear that these kinds of attacks can be prevented, so why is it so hard to pass the legislation that would make a difference?

The U.S. has more guns per capita than any other nation in the world – and the ratio of guns per resident in the U.S. far surpasses any other nation at 120.5 firearms per 100 residents. There may be some room for disagreement about citizens’ second amendment right to bear arms, but at this point, there should be no question that we as a nation are in desperate need of some form of gun control or reform so that safety becomes the priority.

Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones of all the recent tragedies. The pain and grief the affected communities are feeling are unimaginable. And if the insurmountable and lasting effects caused by this attack are not argument enough, the statistics speak for themselves.

We are 145 days into the year, and the U.S. has already experienced 213 mass shootings. That is just one of the many gun violence statistics that we as a nation should be ashamed of.

We can take action today to demand more. We can fight for common-sense legislation to protect our communities and our country from the shameful number of gun-related deaths in our nation. Violence, discrimination, and hate toward any part of our community are damaging and fray the fiber of our collective society. Let us not allow yet another wake-up call to pass us by.

We should all be using the power of our votes and our voices to hold our elected officials accountable. If those in power won't be budged on the issue, they must be voted out. We need to speak up for the policies that we need; those that put people over profit and put an end to this preventable violence.
