Women's History Month: Daily Doses of Female Empowerment!

We were so grateful to be able to spotlight a few women’s rights causes near and dear to our hearts here at Flock for Women’s History Month. We wrapped up the month with one last theme that likely comes as no surprise: female empowerment and women in business!

Internally, we asked our team to share some forms of female empowerment that they love and would like to see more of, digging a little deeper into the different ways we can all support women AND each other! We’re sharing a little peek into that conversation below and hope you find some inspiration from the ways we approach female empowerment daily.

Our Brand Strategist, Ianni, loves seeing people create empowering safe spaces through random acts of kindness towards fellow ladies in places like bar bathrooms or dressing rooms at the store. She would love to also see more awareness around intersectional feminism!

Our Social Media Manager, Mimi, wants people to be intentional in how we interact with younger children to build them up from the start (offsetting gender roles, encouraging girls to be bold and brave, etc.)!

Our Director of Finance, Nilton, feels strongly about movies with women as leads in “non-traditional” roles (i.e. Fighting With My Family, Hidden Figures), so that younger generations can have role models in diverse fields.

Stephanie, from our leasing team, wants to encourage more conversations about gendered ageism and recommended a few resources to start such as: this Forbes article on how gendered ageism affects women’s job security, this introduction to ageism and gender, as well as this article on self-empowered aging and steps we can take towards change.

Lydia, who heads our very own Flock Relations team, loves to see people standing up for women when they’re harassed in public and encourages more people to nurture girls’ interest in politics, so one day they’ll feel empowered to run for office!

Lastly, our general counsel, Pavan, wants to see more women not automatically being the “default parent” when it comes to the mental load of raising children.

Now, we’re a woman-owned business here, so truly we could go on and on. We’ve covered a lot of ground this month, yet still, not enough. We can say with confidence that this will not be the last time you hear from us about these topics, but hope you join us as we move forward into April with a new spotlight on Second Chance Month!
